3 Types of Rocks and the Rock Cycle: Igneous, Sedimentary, Metamorphic - FreeSchoolRocks are awesome! They can be found everywhere on earth and come in many different shapes, forms, and textures. There are three main types of rock: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Learn more about these types of rock, how they are formed, some examples of each type, and how the rock cycle works to change one type of rock into another. Zeolite faciesZeolite facies describes the mineral assemblage resulting from the pressure and temperature conditions of low-grade metamorphism. The zeolite facies is generally considered to be transitional between diagenetic processes which turn sediments into sedimentary rocks, and prehnite-pumpellyite facies, which is a hallmark of subseafloor alteration of the oceanic crust around mid-ocean ridge spreading centres. The zeolite and prehnite-pumpellyite facies are considered burial metamorphism as the processes of orog
