Metamorphic faciesA metamorphic facies is a set of metamorphic mineral assemblages that were formed under similar pressures and temperatures. The assemblage is typical of what is formed in conditions corresponding to an area on the two dimensional graph of temperature vs. pressure. Rocks which contain certain minerals can therefore be linked to certain tectonic settings, times and places in the geological history of the area. The boundaries between facies are wide because they are gradational and approximate. The area on the

Rocks Minerals : Identifying Types of RocksThe three types of rocks are igneous, formed from molten rock, sedimentary, formed from the elements of an existing rock, and metamorphic, formed by a change in heat or pressure. Identify the three different types of rocks with information from a geology professor in this free video on rocks. Expert: Jeffrey K. Wagner Bio: Jeffrey K. Wagner is an associate professor of astronomy and geology. He has been a faculty member of Bowling Green State University Firelands since 1981. Filmmaker: Bradley Walton
